I created a blog for this class and have really taken a liking to it. It's very open and creative and the rules that were given were not hard to follow or stay within. I know that not many people read this and actually that is perfect for me. I think that I will continue to blog on issues when I can. It may not be 3-4 times a week, like i'm blogging now. But it will be at least once or twice.
I follow many blogs, or i'm subscribed to them i guess you could say. I look for things in blogs like i look for things in twitter accounts. They must follow this criteria:
1. they must be well written
2. be opinionated but have facts to support them
3. pictures. I love pictures
or
4. Be moving. Something about the good in the world and things nice that people or organizations are doing to change the world and bring about the good in it.
I use technology for almost every class that I have. I use springboard for assignments and grades, google docs for my papers and presentations, i'm constantly on google for information about homework or tests. And if i'm not on google i'm on facebook or twitter, updating about the news in the world or simply whats going on in my day. My digital footprint is a sad one. I do not update too often and the accounts that I have are used as a way to keep in touch with family and friends that are far away. I don't seeing it affecting my employment chances in the slightest.
To keep up with the trends of technology i will constantly be trying whats new. Either downloading new apps, updating software or updating my technology i'll do it. I think it is important to stay caught up and understand technology as it grows. It will be easier for you this way rather then waiting and trying to learn everything at once.
As far as collaboration with online documents and presentations. I have done many assignments this way and I must say...I am impartial to this. On one hand it gives a chance for everyone to work together and see what is happening as its happening. On the other hand it can be confusing if everyone is updating at once and changing things while you are too. It takes a lot of communication to work on something as group. But I do like how you don't have to constantly share what you're doing and all you have to do is update from one device and all users have it.
With all this use of technology i do believe that periods of "unplugged" time is needed. Each person needs to take the time to power down and foster their relationships with people in a personal manner..face to face. It is important, especially as aspiring teachers, to develop socially. That means going out and having fun or going out and just being around people. It will help your confidence and growth more then sitting at a computer and/or Ipad.
